 Child Rights International (CRI), a non-governmental organization devoted to defending children's rights and welfare, has started a number of programs to give kids in Ghana's cocoa-growing areas more agency.

According to a press release from CRI, the Community Remediation and Empowerment Programme (CREP) has given youngsters in diverse cocoa-growing villages access to educational opportunities and vocational training.

three cocoa-growing areas have received funding from CRI this year to start apprenticeships in trades like sewing, masonry, hairdressing, and plumbing. Five districts are expected to benefit an additional 113 kids.

Additionally, textbooks, workbooks, and notebooks will be distributed to about 4,000 Junior High School (JHS) students in 35 districts throughout the Ashanti, Eastern, Western-North, Bono, Ahafo, and Western regions.


A total of 31 students have won scholarships under the CRI Tony Fofie Child Development Fund (TFDF), with 29 of them receiving college scholarships and two receiving secondary scholarships.


The CRI has partnered with eight groups to work across 1,250 cocoa-growing areas in a determined attempt to end child labor. These partnerships give kids the technical training and instruction they need to be safe from risky pursuits.


13 adapted tricycles have also been made available in five cocoa-growing regions under CRI's School Mobility Project (SMP) to help schoolchildren in rural areas get to school each day.


Mr. Bright Appiah, the executive director of CRI, underlined the value of technical education, characterizing it as the means by which young people can be equipped with the skills they need to pursue jobs that are in line with their inclinations while also being protected from risky actions.


The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juabeng North, Hon. Comfort Asante, conveyed her sincere gratitude to CRI and its respected partners for their priceless assistance. She urged skill tutors to continue being stubbornly dedicated to the education of kids, highlighting that this dedication is a group effort that necessitates the unwavering commitment of all parties involved.
