When two robbers realized their loot was just a loaf of bread wrapped in a purse rather than a wad of cash, they came back to kill the victim's wife.Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, the thieves attacked businessman Raymond Suglo, 42, and his wife at Jang in the Nadowli-Kaloe District in the Upper West Region.

When the robbers, who were on a motorcycle and brandishing guns and machetes, approached, Mr. Suglo was returning from his store.

While their kids were in the bedroom, the couple managed to enter the safer confines of their room, but before they could lock up, the thieves engaged them in a struggle to force the door open.

The burglars shot through the door during the process, wounding Mr. Suglo.

When the couple let go of the door, the robbers burst in and demanded that they hand over their valuables, including Mr. Suglo's sales from the shop.

floppy package

In Mr. Suglo's motorcycle's safe compartment, the robbers discovered the puffy item wrapped in the bag. They snatched it, then ran back to their own bike.

This occurred prior to the thieves and the man engaging in a violent struggle during which they shot Mr. Suglo in the right leg and left shoulder and cut him on the head with a machete.

Mr. Suglo, who described the incident to the Daily Graphic while lying in bed at the Upper West Regional Hospital, claimed that during the roughly 45-minute struggle, he also managed to cut one of the robbers in the face.

Mr. Suglo attempted to ride to the closest hospital in town after the robbers fled with the purse while still suffering from all of his wounds after being shot seven times, but he passed out along the route.

Later, some good Samaritans came to his aid and hurried him to the nearest hospital.

However, it appeared that the criminals were just recently made aware that the handbag they were carrying during their heist mission actually contained a loaf of bread that Mr. Suglo possessed.

They went back to Mr. Suglo's house but were greeted by his absence.

They shot and killed his pregnant wife, Mrs. Dorothy Suglo, in a fit of rage before running away.

A family friend claimed the father had no knowledge of his wife's condition when he spoke to the Daily Graphic last Tuesday, just knowing that the robbers had returned to his home while he was away.

Dr. Robert Amesia, the regional hospital's medical director, informed the Daily Graphic that Mr. Suglo was in a stable condition and would undergo surgery soon.
