In an unexpected move, former US President Donald Trump—who was previously known for his harsh comments on immigration—said that if re-elected, he would automatically award green cards to foreign graduates of US institutions.

Trump stated that everybody who completes a US college need to be permitted to remain in the nation during a podcast discussion with Silicon Valley tech investors on Thursday.

He also pledged to make it simpler to attract brilliance to the US. Promotion Trump stated, "It's so sad when we lose people from Harvard, MIT, the greatest schools, and lesser schools that are phenomenal schools also," on the All-In Podcast, which is anchored by David Friedberg, Jason Calacanis, Chamath Palihapitiya, and David Sacks.

"It should be automatic for graduates of junior colleges to receive a green card that allows them to remain in this country," Trump continued. A green card provides a route to citizenship and the ability to live and work in the US permanently.

With the potential to grant citizenship to hundreds of thousands of people annually, Trump's proposal represents a significant shift from the tough immigration stances that helped push his ascent within the Republican Party. Once saying that immigrants were "poisoning the blood of our country," Trump has threatened to deport more people than any other US politician if reelected in November.

He has also constantly blasted Democratic opponent Joe Biden for being a soft touch when it comes to immigration. Trump criticised Biden's scheme this week, which will enable undocumented spouses of US citizens to seek for permanent residence without having to leave the country, at a campaign event in Wisconsin on Tuesday. "

There is an invasion of our nation. Trump remarked, "We should be talking about halting the invasion, not about amnesty. The Department of Homeland Security believes that 11 million migrants are living in the US without authorization. Despite focusing a great deal of his anger on illegal immigration, Trump drastically decreased legal immigration while in office.

According to a libertarian Cato Institute research, the Trump administration reduced the number of immigration visas and green cards by 11,178,668 and 418,453, respectively.

However, the majority of the drop was attributed to limitations put in place during the COVID-19 outbreak. In an interview with the All-In Podcast, Trump said that the pandemic had interfered with his intentions to grant green cards to foreign graduates. "I have heard tales of people who attended a prestigious university or college and wished they could have stayed on." They can't implement their firm idea or concept, according to Trump.

"They return to China and India and continue operating the same basic business there, becoming multibillionaires and creating jobs for tens of thousands of people, when it could have been done here."In an unexpected move, former US President Donald Trump—who was previously known for his harsh comments on immigration—said that if re-elected, he would automatically award green cards to foreign graduates of US institutions
